Local ICT Industry in Queensland (LINQ) Study
The Local ICT Industry in Queensland (LINQ) Study involved a specialist team working with Queensland's ICT Industry to identify the existing relationship between industry and the Queensland Government in key technology capability areas.
Understanding this relationship allows the project team to determine how best to proceed to ensure industry continues to aid the Queensland Government to achieve its desired ICT outcomes.
The study took a multi-method approach consisting of:
- consultation with peak industry bodies via the ICT Industry Working Group
- analysis of the existing industry profile data collected by the Information Industry Bureau (IIB)
- holding an industry focus group with a sample of vendors and suppliers
- collection of additional data from GITC registered organisations via an online survey.
The survey focused on vendors and suppliers that supply products (goods) and services to government in the areas of networks, ICT infrastructure, data centres and associated enterprise management. Data requested from eligible organisations included profiling:
- revenues by sector and technology capability areas
- technical staff engaged in technology capability areas
- expenditure within Queensland.
The survey was issued to over 1,100 vendors and suppliers on 10 July 2007 and will be open for five weeks. and remained open for five weeks. Survey responses were anonymous and confidential, with use of the data restricted to developing the business case.
The study, including the online survey, was conducted in association with Longhaus - a Queensland based research and advisory company who specialise in ICT industry analysis.
The results of the study were presented at the ICT industry briefing on the 25 September 2007.
